More than a century ago, Charlie Poole helped shape what would become modern country, folk, bluegrass, and Americana music. His recordings influenced generations of musicians, from traditional string bands to artists who would eventually define American roots music itself. Yet despite his enormous impact, much of his catalog remains unknown to modern audiences.

We believe that deserves to change. Queen Spirits, LLC, makers of Cook's Mill Whiskey, has partnered with Citizen Vinyl to produce a special album project dedicated to preserving, reimagining, and sharing the music of Charlie Poole with a new generation of listeners. We are inviting a select group of musicians, artists, and storytellers whose work reflects the spirit of authenticity, craftsmanship, and North Carolina's rich musical tradition to join us in bringing these songs back to life.

This project is intentionally different from a traditional commercial album. Queen Spirits and Cook's Mill Whiskey will receive no profit from album sales. Our role is simply to help make this project possible.

Participating artists will be compensated according to the album structure and agreements established through the project. After artist compensation and production expenses, Cook’s Mill Whiskey will be donating its portion of the masters to Preservation North Carolina.
